How Scythe works
Scythe is a bot on X that deploys tokens on Robinhood Chain, Robinhood’s Ethereum layer‑2. Mention it with a name, a ticker and an image; Scythe launches the token through pons, the launch protocol on Robinhood Chain, and replies with the contract address. Launching costs the creator nothing.
Launching a token
Post on X, or reply anywhere, with an image attached:
Scythe replies with the token’s contract address once the transaction confirms — usually under a minute. The tweet itself is written into the token’s on-chain metadata as its origin.
- Name: up to 60 characters. Dots, slashes and colons are rejected, so nothing URL-shaped can ride along.
- Ticker: up to 20 characters — letters, numbers, underscore.
- Description: up to 256 characters.
- Image: required. PNG, JPG, WebP or GIF up to 4.5 MB; square displays best; GIFs use their first frame.
- Fee wallet: optional. An address on Robinhood Chain that receives the creator share of trading fees. Defaults to Scythe’s treasury.
- Pair: optional. The ticker of an asset pons has approved for pairing — a Robinhood stock or ETF token, USDG or cbBTC. Leave it out and the launch is priced in ETH. See stock-paired launches.
Stock-paired launches
A launch does not have to be priced in ETH. Add pair: with the ticker of an approved asset and that asset becomes the currency of the whole launch. Buyers spend it to buy in and receive it back when they sell, the graduation target is counted in it, the Uniswap pool it graduates into is paired against it, and the creator share is paid in it. Nothing anywhere in the process quietly converts to ETH.
Only assets pons has explicitly approved can be used. Scythe reads the approved list from the pons factory at launch time, so a ticker that is not approved gets a reply saying so rather than a launch. Approval is pons’ judgement that an asset is suitable for pairing; it is not an endorsement of the asset.
What it changes for buyers
- You need to hold the pairing asset on Robinhood Chain before you buy, and your wallet will ask you to approve it first — the standard extra step for spending any ERC‑20.
- The price you see is a price in that asset, not in ETH or dollars. A token priced at 0.5 TSLA can rise against TSLA while falling in dollar terms if TSLA itself is dropping. Watch both.
- The launch carries the pairing asset’s risk on top of its own. If the stock token falls, your position falls with it; if it becomes hard to trade, so does the launch, because the pool is paired directly against it.
- The graduation target is measured in the pairing asset, so the real cost of graduating a launch moves with that asset’s price.
Approved pairing assets
Every asset below is approved on the pons factory today, with the amount the curve has to collect before the launch graduates. Robinhood stock and ETF tokens all use 18 decimals. pons can approve or retire assets and adjust these targets, which has no effect on launches already trading; Scythe checks the live values before every launch.

Verified against the pons factory on Robinhood Chain on 7 September 2026.
What happens on-chain
- Your image is pinned to IPFS. The name, ticker, description and a link to your tweet become the token’s permanent metadata.
- Scythe sends one transaction to the pons launch factory. It deploys the token — 1,000,000,000 supply, fixed forever, no mint function, no transfer taxes — and mints the entire supply to a bonding curve. Nobody, not you and not Scythe, holds a bag set aside before trading opens.
- Anyone can buy and sell against the curve from the first block. The price opens at about 1.68 ETH fully diluted (or the equivalent in the pairing asset) and rises as people buy. You can always sell back to the curve; nobody has to add liquidity first.
- Once the curve has collected 4.2 ETH it closes and the launch graduates. Everything it collected, plus the tokens held back for this purpose, seed a Uniswap v4 pool at the price the curve closed at. Reserved tokens the pool does not need are locked permanently alongside it.
- The pool’s liquidity position is transferred to pons’ launch locker and stays there forever. Nobody — not you, not Scythe, not pons — can withdraw it.
Graduation happens automatically inside the buy that finishes the curve. If that step cannot complete, anyone at all can push it through; it does not need Scythe and it does not need the creator. There is no migration step for anyone to get wrong, and nothing about your holding changes at graduation: the tokens in your wallet are the same tokens before and after.
Snipe protection is built into every launch. Buys in the first 3 seconds after the curve opens are taxed, starting at 99% and decaying to zero, which makes racing the opening unprofitable while leaving it open to an ordinary buyer almost immediately. What is collected flows back into the launch’s trading fees. Sells are never taxed.

Rules and limits
- Three launches per X account per day, with a global hourly cap.
- Accounts younger than 30 days are ignored. Known bots and AI agents are ignored.
- Retweets never trigger a launch. Each tweet launches at most once — a restart or glitch can never double-launch.
- Malformed attempts get a short reply explaining the format, at most once per hour per account.
- Public launching on pons is open. If pons ever restricts it to whitelisted addresses, Scythe keeps launching from its own whitelisted wallet.
Fees
Launching is free for you: Scythe pays the protocol’s 0.0005 ETH launch fee and the gas.
Every trade carries a 1% fee, charged in the asset the launch is priced in — ETH, or the pairing asset — never in the token itself. That rate is the same on the curve and in the Uniswap pool, and it is fixed for the life of the token. pons takes 30% of it. The rest is the creator share, and it goes to the wallet you set with fee:, or to Scythe’s treasury if you didn’t set one.
| Trade fee | 1% of every buy and sell |
| To pons | 0.3% of the trade |
| To the creator wallet | 0.7% of the trade, paid in ETH or the pairing asset |
| Creator tax | 0% — none on any Scythe launch |
Fees are not pushed to wallets. They accrue on the curve (or the pool’s hook after graduation) until they are swept into the pons fee escrow, where they build up as a balance the creator wallet withdraws whenever it likes. A launch paired against a stock token pays its creator in that stock token; nothing is converted to ETH along the way.
Buybacks are off at launch. The creator fee wallet can turn them on through the pons factory at any time; from then on half of the creator share is spent buying the token back off the market, and bought-back tokens are locked and released gradually over five years rather than burned or dumped. The creator wallet can also redirect future fees to a different address. Neither of those touches anyone’s tokens.
Questions
- Can the liquidity be pulled?
- No. At graduation the Uniswap v4 position is owned by pons’ launch locker, which has no withdrawal path — the function does not exist. Before graduation the reserves sit on the bonding curve, which will always buy your tokens back. Both are enforced by the chain, not by trust in Scythe.
- What if my token never graduates?
- It keeps trading on the curve for as long as people want to trade it. You can sell back to the curve at any time; nothing expires and nothing is stranded.
- Does Scythe take a cut of the supply?
- No. The entire supply is minted to the curve. Scythe holds nothing, and neither does the creator, unless they buy in like everyone else.
- My first buy got fewer tokens than the quote.
- Two things can do that. Buys inside the opening snipe window are taxed, and the tax is keyed to the wallet receiving the tokens. And the buy that finishes a curve is filled only up to what is left, with the rest of your spend refunded in the same transaction — you never pay a worse price per token than you agreed to.
- My tweet didn’t work.
- Check that the image is attached, the ticker starts with
$, the name contains no dots or slashes, anypair:ticker is on the approved list, your account is older than 30 days and you are under three launches today. Scythe replies with a hint when it can. - The creator walked away. Can the community take over?
- Yes. pons runs a community takeover process that redirects the creator share, and any buyback, to whoever is running the project now. It changes who gets paid, not the token: supply, pricing, pairing asset and locked liquidity all stay as they are. Requests go through pons, and protocol-proposed changes are public for three days before they take effect.
- Is Scythe affiliated with Robinhood?
- No. Robinhood Chain is a public network; Scythe is an independent tool and is not affiliated with Robinhood Markets or with pons.
Risk. Launch tokens are volatile and can lose all value. Anyone can launch any name, ticker and image, including ones that imitate an existing project, so the contract address is the only identifier that cannot be copied. A launch paired against a stock token carries that token’s risk on top of its own. pons v2 is live but its independent audits have not closed; treat it as unaudited until the reports are published.
